Timothy Okwi playing off handicap 9 returned 74 stable ford points to win the Entebbe Club JBG golf tournament on Sunday.

Upcoming golfer Maureen Okura (h/c 28) was also in fine form returning 77 points in the ladies category to share the podium with Okwi in the tournament that attracted 172 golfers.

Jinja-based professional golfer Fred Wanzala had earlier returned 148 gross to take the lion’s share of the sh10m cash at stake for the 13 professionals that took part in the annual competition.

Kenya’s Dismas Indiza who made a guest appearance shot 146 gross over two days.

Yusuf Ssentongo, Johnson Niwamanya and Dan Muzaale were runners up in the men Groups A, B and C with 66, 69 and 65 points respectively.

The ladies action was topped by Irene Nakalembe who beat Eva Magala by four points with Anne Kiconco’s 68 winning her the ladies Group B prize. But it was professional golfer Steven Odong who walked away smiling most after the sponsors donated a brand new golf kit to him fulfilling their earlier promise to the budding golfer who was struggling in the professional ranks with borrowed kit.

Entebbe Club Hole No. 1 was also renamed after the chairman of the sponsors in recognition for the sixteen years sponsorship to the club. The hole is now called the Helmunt P. Gauff hole.

In addition to the sponsorship JBG will also buy a brand new gang mower for the club in addition to two golf carts.
