Can a condom cause infection?

Doctor, Last year in August, I had sex with my girlfriend and we used a condom. But two weeks later, I started feeling pain and a burning sensation in the urethra when I would urinate. I developed sores on my penis.

However, my partner had no issues. We have never tested for HIV/AIDS and it was my first time to use a condom.
I went to hospital and some tests were carried out including; a RPR non-reactive test and urinalysis, but no abnormalities were detected.
I was given injections and some tablets, but when I completed my dose, the problem recurred. I have since been given medication five times, but the problem keeps recurring.
Could the condom have sparked off the problem?

Painful urination and a burning sensation are signs of gonorrhea, chlamydia and sometimes trichonomous vaginosis, an infection common in women, although it also affects men.
However, if the condom was not used correctly, then it could have caused an infection. A urinalysis is a screening test, but not a diagnosis and confirmatory test.
You may need to do culture and sensitivity. Although your girlfriend does not present with symptoms, you need to have a sexually transmitted infection test done and given the appropriate treatment.
