The Uganda Journalists Manifesto 2016 has been launched to guide the media people to cover the forthcoming elections without bias.

The chairperson of Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Media, MP Maria Nalubega noted that the Manifesto reflects the views of over 200 journalists who participated in the four reflective dialogues on campaign and election reporting held across the country.

"It is my humble appeal to the journalists who participated and even those who didn't to seriously consider the guidelines for the betterment of the country's democratic transformation," Nalubega told guests.

The Journalists' Manifesto 2016 requires journalists reporting on elections to give right to reply to all candidates, to avoid hate speech, use of inappropriate language and reference to ethnicity.

In attendance at the launch of the manifesto were the deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya, minister of information and guidance Jim Muhwezi, Uganda Members of Parliament and MPs from East African Legislative Assembly and journalists.
