Tugume, Kipsiro for Gone Wild Marathon

Uganda's celebrated athletes, Titus Tugume, Moses Kipsiro and Johnson Anywar have confirmed their participation in the Gone Wild mini marathon on October 17 in Lake Mburo National Park organised by Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA).

Uganda's celebrated athletes, Titus Tugume, Moses Kipsiro and Johnson Anywar have confirmed their participation in the Gone Wild mini marathon on October 17 in Lake Mburo National Park organised by Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA).


UTB senior marketing officer Sylvia Kalembe disclosed this over the weekend during the launch of the marathon.

"Sports pull bigger crowds and as Uganda Tourism Board, we believe that sports will help us promote tourism among Ugandans before taking it international," Kalembe stated before launching the 5Km and 10km event.

"We are starting with a Mini Marathon but we shall next year turn it into half marathon and later into full marathon."

She added that they will use sports as the driving engine to promote local and international tourism in the country.

She also explained that many Ugandans do not know their country because they fear to go to these national parks tour, but this mini marathon will help sensitize Ugandans.

Fred Mugoga, the event coordinator and Moses Engwau the event director urged Ugandans to participate in the Marathon because all proceeds will go towards providing safe drinking water to the locals.
