It is confirmed, this year's Nile Gold Jazz Safari will have American RnB singer Karyn White as the headline act, alongside great smooth jazz saxophonists, Kirk Whalum and Gerald Albright.

This was confirmed Tuesday evening at the event's launch held at Guvnor.

The eighth Jazz Safari edition will take place on October 2 with White, famed for her song "Superwoman," expected to deliver a top-notch performance to relieve the old memories of the 1980s and early '90s.

The evening started off at 7:30pm as scheduled, with invited guest, sponsors and media personalities enjoying Nile Gold beers on the house and a few snacks. They were also treated to a performance from local saxophonist Micheal Kitanda, who played some two songs off his soon-to-be released album.

Video clips of the three headline acts were played on plasma screens for guests, probably not familiar with them, to know what awaits them in two months' time.

White is the first female artist to have three solo releases hit number one on the RnB charts while Whalum has won numerous awards, including one Grammy award for the song "It's What I do." Albright has been here a number of times and is expected to bring another twist to the event.

Guests at the unveiling night, emceed by jazz music radio personality Elijah Kitaka, won some jazz CDs from sponsors Nile Gold and British Airways.
