KAMPALA - Celebrated Ugandan movie translator Junior Matovu, popularly known as VJ Junior, has clarified he is not interested in contesting for councilor of Bwaise II in Kampala.

He has rubbished such talk that has been doing rounds as mere “rumour”.

“I am not into politics yet,” says the renowned VJ.

He admits that he once mentioned the idea to his fans, not knowing how serious his statements would be perceived.

And only a day after uttering this “joke”, he was surprised to see campaign posters bearing his face on the streets being distributed by a group of his beloved fans.

But Junior reveals he will join politics at a later time . . . and “not soon”.

Many of his fans have wished him well when he seriously decides to join politics and wish him well, also pledging their support for him when that time comes.

“I am so happy that people can trust me to the extent of printing posters.  On the other hand I am so sorry to have let them down but when my time comes, I will stand for any seat, but not now.”

He is one of the top movie translators in Uganda with a huge following in a competitive industry that has picked up over the last decade.
