On the back of a strong showing in the recent 2014 World Cup Qualifiers and the recent wins against Tanzania, Uganda has continued its surge up the FIFA/Coca Cola rankings.

In the latest rankings released on Thursday, Uganda has moved up three places to 77th in the world.

On the African continent, Uganda has also moved up three places to 16th place, one ahead of Senegal who they face in Morocco on September 7th in the final Group J match that will determine who makes it to the second round of qualification.

Neighbours Tanzania and Kenya drop 7 places to 128th and 6 places to 129th respectively while Rwanda have risen 3 places to 131st on the standings.

Ivory Coast remains the top ranked African team in 18th place; down 5 places while Ghana, Mali, 2013 AFCON champions Nigeria and Algeria round off the top five sides on the continent.

Cape Verde narrowly miss out on the top 5 after rising 13 places to occupy 6th place on the continent.

Elsewhere, world and European champions Spain stretched their lengthy reign atop the standings to 23 months. The top 10 remains unchanged with Germany and Colombia rounding up the top 3.
