President Yoweri Museveni has described Uganda as one of the most peace place on the globe.
“Uganda is one of the most peaceful countries anywhere on the globe. I spend many hours awake while you sleep. Handling the Namugongo (Martyrs Day) event successfully proved a point,” Museveni said.
He said that UPDF has ensured total peace in the whole country by defeating Joseph Kony, ADF and disarming of the Karimojongs.

The President added: “We shall install CCTV cameras in major towns to deal with issues like murder. Police is using old methods of "ani amulabyeeko’ must stop.”
Delivering the State of the Nation Address, Museveni warned lawmakers against harassing scientists during committee session warning that they do so in total breach of the Constitution.
“The rude way you talk to people in your parliamentary committees tantamount to abuse of power. If you have questions please ask me and those who know, you're lucky God has kept me here. In fact if any of those scientist, calls at night, I pick their calls. So that’s why important they are to me and I treasure them a lot,” Museveni said, inviting cheers from the public servants.
“Our scientists can do anything, they just need funding which will come in due course,” he said.
Calling on MPs to stop joking because the world is not for jokers, Museveni said that scientists are not economists to be answering hard accountability questions.
Museveni cited the example of Dr. Florence Muranga of the banana value addition as one of the scientists the lawmakers and other politicians should be supporting instead of subjecting such innovators to doses of harassment when they appear before various committees.
Muraga’s banana project will receive sh17b, while Uganda Industrial Research Institute will get sh14.4b, and the Makerere University KIIR-EV vehicle project will get sh27.7b, money Museveni said is not enough to propel such a project to great heights.
