FIVE Gulu district LC5 councilors, who are reported to have crossed from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to National Resistance Movement (NRM), have denied the claims maintaining that they are still FDC members.

The five include: Chris Owen Okoya, Watdog Francisco Awori, Kenneth Nyeko, Patrick Komakech and Burlington Olweny Pa'Ogwech representing Palaro, Koro, Ongako, Patiko and Bungatira Sub Counties respectively.

They are said to have crossed on March 29 from the UPDF's 4th Division barracks, when they met the President Yoweri Museveni who was in Gulu to commission the Gulu main market. Each of them reportedly received sh2m.

Speaking to Journalists in Gulu municipality, the councilors said they met the President to discuss pertinent issues that were affecting the district.

Kenneth Nyeko accused the district chairman and the CAO of conniving with NGO's to swindle money.
However, when Martin Ojara Mapenduzi was contacted, he described the five councilors as opportunists, who went to the President for financial gains, scholarship and jobs.

Mapenduzi added: “If they think that we are corrupt, they should petition the IGG, Police, Anti-corruption court or table a motion in council.”
