It may have started a bit late, but Coca-cola rated next auditions are indeed on in at the Lake View hotel in Mbarara.

Interestingly, the first audition of the day was the first yes of the day. It was from a one Adrine who did singer Adele’s song; Someone like you.

Not that the judges, Ken Daniels Kayongo aka Ken Daniels and Siima Sabiti thought her performance was the best there was, but they agreed that it was good enough.

“Adrine, I think you have an okay voice, but you picked a big song!” Siima said as Ken Daniels agreed.

The other judge Esther Nabaasa however did not agree that she deserved a pass to day two, and said no. Luckily, all Adrine needed were two nods.

This audition has its share of jokers; and rather well represented.

A one Abdul came and did the song Wuyo by Apass.  Just before he said no to him, Ken Daniels lamented; “How are you gonna come in here and spend half your audition on Wuyo?”

Then a guy who said he was called Karema but sounded like he said Caramel walked in with a guitar and did a Runyakole version of John Legend’s All of you.

Lucky for the judges, Nabaasa was in the room and heard that the fella had just concocted his song. “He got the lyrics wrong! But it was really hilarious…” she laughingly said.

“He said that he would drink the water that she used to shower!” Nabaasa added. And Ken Daniels said; “Hmmnn…African romance!” It was a rather refreshing performance, but still got no from all three judges.

If that wasn’t humorous enough, then in came a guy called Joel, who when asked to mention the title of the song he was going to audition said; it was about sweet life.

Then he sung; “Children you see… you love King Jesus…” All it did was infuriate Ken Daniels who wondered if he even knew there was 50 million shilling at stake!

Then in came a guy that called himself Chris Black of Uganda, but pronounced it as; “Chris Braak of Ugandah!”

That alone got the comedy rolling, before he took to a song by Goodlyfe featuring Pallaso called Amaaso!”

He looked like he was in pain, matter of fact, he sounded like everything on him hurt, so bad! His stomach was held in so deep; the fella looked like he might just collapse!

Then in came Kamugisha Emmanuel aka Kam G, dressed to the dot. He sung and Ken Daniels said; “the swag is dope, the singing is whack!” It was a no from all three judges.

However, Joan Peace’s rendition of Nigerian Asa’s Mr. Jailor got all three judges hopeful again and nodding in approval.

It was a yes for her. “I liked the basics in your voice,” Nabaasa said.

It was a one Berna’s turn and she too wowed the judges with Alicia Keys’ No one.

It was a yes for her. Unlike Berna, one Esther’s first audition was not that good, but after a second take, it improved and she got a pass to day two!

When Emron walked in, he did not look like a word could come out of his mouth, but when it did; judges Siima and Ken Daniels agreed he deserved a chance to day two.

The judges were in a good mood, and next was a one Ivon, not Ivan as the judges first thought to get a yes.

Ken Daniels thought the not only had good vocals but could sing too.
