The most common plot size is the 50x100 feet plot, but in some cases you may also find a plot smaller than this.
According to David Kireli, a civil engineer in the education ministry, if you buy a 50x40 feet plot and it is on the main road the best deal would be to build rentals on it.
"Many people know that building near roads fetches good money in rent and sales. However, what most people forget is that it can be a risky venture if you end up on the wrong plot. The most important thing is to think of a road reserve before developing your plot because if you do not leave the mandatory 2 metres, you might lose your property because you did not think of the road reserve", he advises.
"You can build a flat or a two or three bedroom bungalow. Ensure you get a good architect so you do not get future regrets".
Why you need a construction team
Kireli says this team comprises of the project owner, consultants and contractor. The owner finances the project, consultants design plan and supervise the project, while the contractor implements it. This team will ensure quality and timely delivery of the project.
In order to avoid shoddy work, each one of the team member has to understand and play his role efficiently.
Why cement floor needs care
When you get to flooring your house care needs to be taken to use a material that can allow for scrubbing with chemicals.
When scrubbing the floor it is usually advisable to use soft bristled brushes.
Regulate the amount of force applied while brushing to avoid scratching the paint in the case of floors with oxides.
Cooking using a charcoal stove or electric coil placed directly on the floor can also be damaging that is why the floor materials you choose matters.
The heat emitted and conducted to the floor can cause it to crack, with time.
When using a charcoal stove, it is advisable to place it on a flat piece of wood in order to prevent heat from getting to the floor.
