KAMPALA – Three students of Makerere University have been charged with the murder of a former student of the university.

Marvin Mutungi, 21, Martin Atukwase, 21 and Derrick Wagoli, 23, were charged at Buganda Road Grade One Magistrates Court.

They are accused of killing David Otim Ojok on April 12 this year at Nkrumah Hall located inside the main campus.

The three are residents of Nkrumah Hall, with Marvin Mutungi- the chairman of the hall.

The accused were not allowed to enter plea court and were remanded to Luzira Prison by Magistrate Mary Kaitesi. The will reappear in court on May 7 for further mention.

It is alleged that Ojok, a former student of Makerere University and a graduate of computer science, was lynched by a mob of Nkrumah Hall residents when he had reportedly gone to demand for his money mid-this month.

He was pronounced dead at Mulago Hospital and buried three days later in Kolkil village, Pader district.

Meanwhile the State told court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
