Wedding preparations for Golden Band singer Maureen Nantume and fiancé Ronnie Muganza are in high gear; but, behind it all is relationship drama that has pitted the singer against a jilted lover with children sired by Muganza.
The official introduction at Natume's father, Denis Ssekiziyivu's home in Bukanaga village, Mityana takes place today Thursday.
Last Saturday Charlotte Kiggundu appeared on Bukedde TV's Agataliiko Nfuufu accusing Muganza of neglecting his two children in a one-roomed house (muzingo) in West Zone, Nansana, on the outskirts of Kampala.
Kiggundu said she was a form five student when she met Muganza in 2000 and were in a relationship till 2005 when she got pregant for him while at the university.
Her pregnancy disappointed her parents who stopped paying her tuition fees. She said what hurts her most is that Muganza, who hails from a rich family - he's a son to Lwabulindi - Kiddawalime, a confectionary tycoon in Kyengera - spends money like he prints it while his kids are wallowing in poverty.
Kiggundu also accused Nantume of threatening her using the media to back off her man. Nantume however said instead it's Kiggundu who has for long called her on phone threatening and insulting her.
"If the man dumped her it is not my fault; I have nothing to do with their issues why doesn't she leave me alone?" Nantume, who is pregnant for Muganza, said.
Muganza last week made his intentions clear when he visited Nantume's senga, Ms Kigozi in Mityana.
Culturally in Buganda, the visit marks the beginning of formalising their relationship.
Like in the case of another Golden Band singer Stecia Mayanja whose colleagues had to mediate in dramatic behind-the-scenes development, Nantume first introduced her man to Mesach Semakula whom she regards as her mentor.
