It was a goalless affair as Luwero United were held by Free Stars FC in the Buganda Regional League in Luwero on Saturday.

The visitors, who are playing their first season in the league and are currently placed fourth, made only one attempt on goal.

It was a drab display as both sides failed to see the other’s net although the hosts appeared more comfortable on the ball and oozed more vim.

The Free Stars’ only attempt on goal was by Simon Semalulu who collected a pass from Oscar Mugambe, exchanged quick passes with fellow striker Owen Kikomeko before eventually blasting his effort inaccurately.

The home team bossed possession and threw everything at the visitors, but they fell short when it all mattered the most – scoring.

Credit will go to Free Stars’ goalie George Tumwine who made brilliant saves from a marauding attacking force.

Luwero will be the better beneficiary over the two rounds after collecting four points from a possible six, having beaten Free Stars 2-1 in the first round.

They almost did make away with maximum points when substitute Solomon Lwanga, brought on in the 80th minute, created the best chance of the game, only for the keeper to stand in the way of his rasping shot.

Having lost only two games this season, Luwero now sit in second place. And with only one game left to the end of the season, they have all but secured their second position and cannot leapfrog the table leaders even with a win in their last game.
