Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has collected sh80m during his fundraising drive in Kawempe South constituency, Kawempe division. This comes just a day when sections of the public criticized his continued drive for ettoffali.

However, after receiving the money at PIC primary school, Katikkiro said this shows that people still love the Kabaka.

"Now who can stop me when people still want me. We are going get more as long as people still want to give," he added.

Mayiga said people should stop preaching hatred because it only splits them thus affecting development in the Kingdom and the country at large.

"We have seen religious wars dividing people in the history of Buganda and Uganda at a large. It was even worse among the Muslims but the late Prince Nuhu Mbogo played a big role to reunite them," he said.

He said people should learn to leave in harmony, irrespective of their religious, political and ethnic differences.

He said people need to fight for what belongs to them and protect their kingship at all times to revive the lost glory.

"If these young children understand what I am doing, then what about adults. I will not be deterred by anyone from doing my work because we do not force anyone to give," Mayiga added.

Katikiro also had a closed meeting with Sheikh Rajab Kakooza at his home.

Hajati Gayira the proprietor of PIC school, said they are committed to continue supporting all Buganda's projects.

"We do not care what people say. You are indeed a gift to Buganda. You have reunited people and we shall continue supporting you," she added.

The ceremony was attended by areas MP Latiff Sebaggala and other Muslim clerics.
