Kigongo elected deputy boss for regional business council

The president of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Olive Kigongo, has been elected vice-chairperson of the East African Business Council (EABC).

The president of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Olive Kigongo, has been elected vice-chairperson of the East African Business Council (EABC).
 
She was elected during the 14th Annual General Meeting of the EABC in Arusha, Tanzania over the weekend.
Vimal Shah from Kenya was elected chairperson for the next one year, taking over from former finance minister Gerald Ssendaula.
 
The EABC is the apex body of business associations of the private sector and corporates from the EAC member states.
 
The council was established to foster and promote the interests of the EAC business community, provide value added services that create new business opportunities and influence public policies with a view of improving the business environment.
 
Others Ugandans on the council include Onapito Ekomoloit, Jim Kabeho and Gerald Sendawula.
