NAKIREBE based Allen V.R U-12 baseball team will represent Uganda at the Middle East, Europe & Africa regional qualifier in Kutno, Poland after beating Gulu Giants 12-1 in the finals at the Little League Baseball ground at Nakirebe on Tuesday.

The winners beat Kyambogo by 10-0 in the first match before winning by a similar margin against Lugazi and completed the preliminaries with a 13-0 victory over Gulu.

Gulu on their part beat Soroti 12-2, edged Kyambogo 3-2 before a 12-6 win over Lugazi to qualify for the finals.

The victors were inspired to the victory by Felix Izama, Job Echon and Denis Achidri who scored two home runs each.

Allen V.R will in the Poland tournament face thirteen other teams from Europe in the July 13-21 contest, where the winner gets an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the Little League World Series in the US.

The World Series, Williamsport, Pennsylvania tournament will be played between August 15th and 25th.

Last year Uganda made history when they won their championship match against Kuwait 5-2 in Poland to qualify for the World Series.

Uganda’s First Little League Team at the World Series in the USA made history when they reached the 2012 LLW Series and won a game.

Apart from the publicity from the international media that the team received, they also returned with the Jack Losch Little League World Series Team Sportsmanship Award, presented in recognition for exemplary sportsmanship both on and off the field.

The Ugandan team needs close to sh90m to send a team to compete in the Poland event
