When Eddy Kenzo’s song Sitya loss broke records on You tube and garnered him a number of world tours, the significant one being a European tour, we thought, well, it happens to Ugandan musicians who hoist the Ugandan musical flag ever so high only to sink in demise after.

It happened to Pastor George Okudi after winning the Kora awards.

It happened to Madox Semanda Sematimba who, by the way, is back in the country and grassing like an upcoming artist.
We thought it would happen, that the demise-God would actually visit musician Eddy Kenzo alias Edirisa Musuuza but the herdsman from fort portal has stuck to his stay-up-there script and as such, broken records and reached international musical heights not (m)any Ugandan musicians have reached.

Shortly after being chosen to perform at the opening of the African cup where by the way, he flew in a private Jet (something he ecstatically hooted about and flaunted on social media with the excitement of a teenager after kissing their first crush) from Gabon to Equatorial Guinea, his song “Sitya loss” has been voted as number three by the African Muzik Magazine.
According to a list the magazine released, the song is number three as it has been enjoying airplay across all the international and African media platforms.

Significantly however, this comes after Eddy Kenzo choose to portray originality in the song as he shot the video in Karamoja.

In a recent interview, he relayed how he vouches for originality in all his musical productions. “I don’t know why Ugandan musicians want to sing like American, or how most of them are adopting the Nigerian style of singing when they want to appeal to the world at large. If you want to go out there, you need to sell your traditional, your roots, and If you can do that through your music, it will prosper beyond imagined heights”  asserted Eddy Kenzo in an interview conducted in his car with the New vision a couple of months back.

And it is with such an attitude that he has produced a song that secured him a slot among the artists that performed at the opening of the African cup of nations in Equatorial Guinea, a stance that has consequently set the whole of Uganda behind him, spewing such praise and expressing pride, and it is with no doubt that perhaps, his next musical quest or productions, a collaboration with American superstar, Akon might thrust him into the league of musical legends as projected by many of Uganda’s musical critiques.
