FORMER World and Commonwealth 3000m steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru has reunited with Italian coach Renato Canova as she tries to regain her winning touch.

Canova is a renowned coach who has trained world beaters. He was Inzikuru’s trainer when she became a world champion.

Despite completing the Brighton marathon in England within the World Championships qualifying time of 2:42:38 a fortnight ago, Inzikuru insisted that her focus is to run in the steeplechase events.

“I am not yet ready for the full marathon though I made a good debut,” the runner remarked.

“I am still focused on qualifying for the IAAF World Championships and since I will be training under Canova, I believe I will make it and also put up a good performance in the races,” said Inzikuru.

The World Championships is set for Russia in August.

Inzikuru, who moved to Iten yesterday for training, believes that she has the endurance but needs to perfect her movement over the hurdles.

“After that, I can say that I will be ready to chal¬lenge the best at the World Championships,” the top ranked steeplechase star in 2006. added.
