A six-year-old girl is seeking financial assistance to enable her go for a heart surgery in India.

Scarlet Nansbuga is to undergo a second open heart surgery, following the one she had three years ago.

Her mother, Ritah Nemeye, said after the first operation, she was advised that another one would follow at six years, which is due this month.

The surgery, at Yashoda Hospital Hyderabad in India, is expected to cost $7,300 (about sh20m). Nansubuga is to have three valve replacements in the heart.

The cost includes a complete evaluation and investigations at about $500, hospital costs for the surgery (B-T shunt) at $2,000 and the cost of the internal surgery at $4,800, including an eight-day stay at the hospital.

Dr. Prasad Reddy, a cardiologist, and Dr. Sukesh Reddy, a CT surgeon at the hospital, said Nansbuga has been provisionally diagnosed with tetralogy of Fallot, a congenitakl heart defect.
