Patriotism, Pan –Africanism, Social-economic transformation and democracy are the four critical principles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Museveni said this in his capacity as the NRM chairman while opening the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, in Entebbe today.

The NEC meeting preceded the National Delegates’ Conference which convenes tomorrow in Nelson Mandela Stadium in Namboole, Wakiso District.

NEC discussed recommendations made by the party’s Central Executive Committee which met on Saturday. In turn NEC is expected to make resolutions which will be presented to the National Delegates Conference for approval.

Among the recommendations is amending the party constitution to provide for an appointed secretary general.

In his speech Museveni highlighted what the NRM has done in its 28 years in power and outlined what it plans to for the country in the future.

He also pointed out four weaknesses that have forestalled Uganda’s rapid social-economic transformation saying once they are surmounted the sky is the limit.

The four weaknesses are delays in registration of private sector investments, procrastination over implementation of Prosperity For All programmes, Uganda National Roads Authority’s failure to work on rural roads and corruption.
