The mother of former Uganda Investments Authority (UIA) boss, Maggie Kigozi collapsed and died Monday night.

The 84-year-old collapsed during a party hosted at Serena hosted by Crown Beverages the manufacturers og Pepsi products. Dr. Kigozi, one of the directors, had invited her family to celebrate 20 years of the company’s success.

Kigozi who had earlier introduced her mother Mrs Molly Johnson Blick to the rest of the guests, danced with her as gospel singer, Judith Babirye sang her Maama Wange hit.

Maama Wange, loosely translated as My Mother, highlights the toil and sacrifice mothers go through in raising their children.

“My mother loved us and would do anything for her family. Several of us were with her at the final hour. At the party, my son Danny [musician Navio] and Judith Babirye dedicated songs to her and we had merry. The event was a kind of ending she loved.

"She was a fun-loving person who hated doctors, especially injections. Even when bitten by one of her dogs, she would conceal the injury," said the UIA director of her fallen mother.

Mrs Blick collapsed at the hotel, was rushed to Nakasero hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after her critical arrival.

Born in 1928 in Masaka, she attended Bwanda Primary School and Mangu Thika in Kenya where she studied tailoring and dress making.

She was active in sports and her family has produced renown sportsmen excelling in: motor rallying, tennis, rugby, basketball.

"She was very supportive towards her children and encouraged them to take on sports. She was a parent who always attended her children and grandchildren's training sessions. She was present whenever we were competing,” recalled her enterprising daughter.

An animal that she was, the late Molly cherished dogs, cats, parrots and ducks. Turkeys and rabbits were also among her favorite companions at her Bweyogere home.

Born on November 23rd 1928 in Masaka, Molly was married to Engineer George William Blick (RIP) in 1946 and they had five children together: Paddy, Arthur, Maggie, Derrik and Bill.
