The Government of Uganda (Ministry of Education and Sports) has received a DFID Trust Fund Grant from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of project support to the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) being implemented by the Uganda Industrial Research Institute.


The Government of Uganda (Ministry of Education and Sports) has received a DFID Trust Fund Grant from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of project support to the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) being implemented by the Uganda Industrial Research Institute.

The Government of Uganda intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to make payments under the following contracts for the supply, installation and commissioning;

NB. Interested bidders should submit separate bids for each procurement subject.

2. The Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the procurement subjects above.

3. Bidding will be conducted through Competitive Shopping procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Uganda Industrial Research Institute Procurement and Disposal Unit and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 8.30-5.00 pm on working days.

5. The qualification requirements are that the bidder should have; implemented at least three similar contracts, demonstrated evidence of capacity to offer technical support in terms of repair and maintenance of machinery, proof of evidence to have a minimum of three years’ experience in machinery supply and installation.

6. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English shall be issued to interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below. The Bidding document can be picked from the Uganda Industrial Research Institute Procurement and Disposal Unit.

Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before at 11:30 am on Monday 22nd April, 2013. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives, who choose to attend in person at UIRI Boardroom located at the address below at 11:45 am on Monday 22nd April, 2013. All bids must be accompanied by a “Bid-Securing Declaration”.
