Rugunda applauds BCI-Wrox Academy Uganda

ICT Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has applauded the management of BCI-Wrox Academy for extending their services to Uganda.

“When we were in Kyankwanzi recently we resolved that we should have as many institutions like this and this is timely for BCI-Wrox to open its doors to Ugandans, I appeal to young to join this institution so that they can compete for jobs within and outside the country,” Rugunda noted the launch ceremony.

Located in the heart of Kampala on Damanico Building, BCI-Wrox Academy has introduced world’s finest Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology (IT) training and certifications in Uganda.

The executive Vice President of the institution Sanjeeva Shukla said that the institution boasts of 26 international BPO-IT certifications which will aid students to compete for jobs anywhere in the world.

“This institution is the country’s most state-of-the-art initiative in BPO-ICT training; operating on the HCM21 international standards of world leader BPO certification institute (BCI) the capabilities and resources of BWA-U include world class training content; The world’s best careers are made in BPO and IT and we have the vision to help you make them,” said Shukla.

The event was attended by a number of city businessmen most of whom from Indian community, ICT companies among others.

India makes 100b US dollars every year from its workforce in BPO and ICT within and around the world and Rugunda encouraged Ugandans to embrace ICT and exploit the available opportunities.

“ICT is endless and therefore there are so many opportunities to be exploited, Ugandans should take a center stage in exploiting them by embracing it because it can fetch in a lot of revenues for this country and change many people’s lives,” said Rugunda.

He noted that ICT is applicable in every aspect of life and therefore Ugandans should simply hold close onto it and exploit it not only to better their lives but also to move with time.

Some of the courses and certifications offered at the newly launched institution include; Software engineer, software testing engineer, database engineer, mobile applications developer, cloud applications developer, network engineer, web-application development, computer operator license, business process, customer interaction, financial process,  among many others.

The institution currently only offers certificates but Shukla said that soon they will come up with Degree and Diploma programs as well.

“Our mission is to nurture a strong ICT workforce by 2015 in Uganda and covert young Ugandan workforce into highly employable and productive professionals,” said Shukla.

According to Shukla, BCI-Wrox certificate is accepted and recognized in over 52 countries worldwide and actually the institution helps its trainees get jobs once they finish their courses.

“All trainees are provided with the courseware kit that includes course books, workbooks and CD’s for training support; post successful completion of the training program and getting certified the professionals are also provided with assistance in job placements,” said Shukla.

The institution also has a special program for organizations where certificate programs are available for professionals who want to upgrade their skills, training on professional programs as per international standard.
