Ekiring seeks third consecutive badminton title

After winning the men’s singles title in the Zambia and Nigeria International Badminton championships, Edwin Ekiring will be praying that his luck continues when he challenges the top cream in the South Africa international Badminton open championship that starts Thursday in Johannesburg.

After winning the men’s singles title in the Zambia and Nigeria International Badminton championships, Edwin Ekiring will be praying that his luck continues when he challenges the top cream in the South Africa international Badminton open championship that starts Thursday in Johannesburg.

Shamim Bangi, another Ugandan who is competing in the tournament is unseeded in the women's competition

Despite being seeded 22, Uganda’s top seed arrived  in South Africa in a positive mood and hopes to continuing his winning form as he fights to dominate the continent.

He is set to open  his campaign  for a third crown against  Czech Republic Adam Mendrek in the first round, which puts  him on course to meet  Seed 5,  France’s Arnuad Genin.

If he wins both his games, Ekiring will most likely come up against seed two, Milan Ludik from Czech, whom he will partner with in the men’s double competition.

Ekiring was also unseeded in the Zambian open  promised to give it all he has.

“I am already in Johannesburg trying to concentrate,” he said.

Bangi, who will be playing in the women singles, will also team up with foreign player to compete in the women's  mixed doubles.
