KPL: Sserunkuma wins Golden Boot

Uganda Cranes striker Dan Sserunkuma bagged his first Kenya Premier League Golden Boot at the FOYA awards held at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel on Wednesday night.


The Gor Mahia danger man netted 16 goals in the just concluded season to help his side to retain the league title. He finally clinched the golden boot that he missed by only one goal in his debut season in 2012.

The former KPL Player of the Year has scored a total of 42 goals in three premier league seasons. The award was received on his behalf by club Secretary General Chris Omondi since he was away on international duty with the Uganda Cranes.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia midfielder Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito collected two 1st runners-up individual accolades in the 2014 FOYA awards.

Kizito who was in  his debut season in the Kenya Premier League came second to Sofapaka’s Antony Ekaliana Ndolo in tight contests pitting the duo as the  favorites in both the Midfielder of the Year and Player of the Year categories ahead of the awards gala.

Kizito was an instrumental figure in the KPL champions’ midfield playing a pivotal role in the league .He played 26 games out of 30 league matches and scored five goals.
