If you are an environmental enthusiast and often likes to call the National Environment Management Authority for any updates on forests and fauna, then I bet this has not been an easy week for you.

Similarly, for journalists and other environment information hungry groups out there because NEMA’s telephone lines have been off this week.

Attempts to reach NEMA’s public relations officer, Naomi Karekaho were futile as her mobile number was off and her office line was down, like the rest of the office lines.

Strangely, on visiting NEMA offices along Jinja Road, the receptionist picked up her phone to inquire if Karekaho was in.

As if sensing the question before it was asked, she offered, “The phones have a technical problem but we are working on it.

They will be back on Monday.”
