Luzinda faces 10-year jail sentence over nude pictures

STATE minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo has directed police to question local artist Desire Luzinda for her nude pictures said to be taken by her Nigerian boyfriend

STATE minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo has directed police to question local artist Desire Luzinda for her nude pictures said to be taken by her Nigerian boyfriend that have gone viral on social media.

“Police is on track to get hold of Luzinda and her boyfriend. I have directed the Police to get her,” the minister told New Vision in a phone interview on Tuesday morning.

The minister explained that Luzinda and her boyfriend will be charged with exhibition of pornographic material contrary to section 13 of the Anti- Pornography Act.

Section 13 of the Act states that: “A person shall not produce, traffic in, publish, broadcast, procure, import, export, sell or abet any form of pornography.”

It adds: “A person who produces or participates in the production of, or traffics in, publishes, broadcasts, procures, imports, exports or in any way abets pornography contrary to sub section 1 commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding five hundred currency points or imprisonment not exceeding ten years or both.”

Five hundred currency points is equivalent to sh10m.
