The love woes of celebrity couple Joel Isabirye and Rebecca Jingo offer the Kampala social circuit a whole new meaning of marital bliss - 'in sickness and in health.'

On Tuesday Isabirye rushed to Najjeera police and reported that  his wife Jingo had stolen his sh30m. The case file was registered as 2/28/10/2014.

The previous week he had budged into the police station at break-neck speed seeking help after his wife, brandished a glittering sharpened knife, threatened to slaughter him.

According to a statement he recorded with police, they had been fighting over Jingo's wedding ring.

Then, the station CID boss, Constance Nyirasenga, like a mother, counselled the couple and they returned home seemingly on talking terms.

Isabirye however, says he returned home to find his wife had packed her belongings and fled the home with his sh30m. Jingo is reported to have returned to her parents' home in Kansanga.

Isabirye has offered his wife a lifeline: "If she is to come back, she must stop stealing, fighting and should behave like a married woman."

A frightened Isabirye said he has on several occassions tried to talk Jingo into changing her behaviours but she turns a deaf ear. Isabirye claims  that sometimes, Jingo leaves home past midnight and returns in the morning. Sometimes she does not even return, he asserts.

According to Isabirye, whenever he confronts Jingo about her behaviours, she gets hostile and physical. The latest of such drama was when she got hold of a knife to 'finish him off.'

"This is no joke! The woman got hold of a knife and chased after me even neighours who witnessed can attest to this," Isabirye said. "Don't argue; that woman is very tough," he insisted.

He said that people might find it funny and laugh about it but he is living a nightmare.

Conflicting versions of story

Jingo's friends who preferred anonymity however have shed light on what could have sparked off the latest war in the couple's marriage.

According to Jingo's friends, last Sunday she threw him a birthday party, but later in the night after cutting the cake Isabirye said he had to dash out and complete some errands.

He returned late in the night but not before Jingo, who had been monitoring her husband's social media activity, saw pictures of him cutting cake with another lady posted on his facebook wall.

Jingo was sure those were not old photos because he was dressed the same as when she had cut cake with him earlier in the evening!

The following morning while Jingo prepared breakfast she placed her wedding ring on a table, but later realised it was missing, according to her friends. She tasked Isabirye to produce her ring but he said he had no clue where it was.

The drama ensued while Jingo was holding a knife she had been using to cut vegetable while Isabirye held a glass drinking something out of it.

Then the exchange got physical and in the process the glass the husband was holding broke and cut him.

He then fled out of the house and to the police station to report that his wife had threatened him with a knife.

Isabirye concurs there was a fight over the ring, but insists Jingo drew a knife and threatened to slaughter him.

He also denies Jingo's version of him having cut a birthday cake with another woman after he dashed out of his own party on Sunday. He also insists she picked his sh30m that was stashed in his laptop bag.

Jingo sought refuge at the parents' home reportedly to recover from the shock of the slanderous accusations her husband leveled against her.

Couple takes war to facebook, in-laws angry

Isabirye has also distanced himself from posts on is facebook wall washing their dirty linen in public. This was after his brother-in-law Paul Jingo lambasted him for dragging family affairs in public.

Isabirye claims his enemies who live in the diaspora always hack into his account and post slanderous material to paint a bad picture of him.

Isabirye reportedly refused to pick his phone when his in-laws called him to shed light on the facebook posts and why he was taking family affairs to the public.

Jingo's latest posts though show she has turned to higher powers for counsel. She posted on her wall that:

"Its by God's grace, All things thru xrist Jesus, He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me; I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever Amen..."
