Archbishop Ntagali calls for family harmony

KAMPALA - Archbishop Stanley Ntagali has expressed worry over the high number of families that are breaking up due to the rampant domestic violence.

Addressing his maiden press conference at the Church of Uganda provincial headquarters in Kampala, Ntagali who was installed on December 15, said the world is celebrating Christmas when Ugandans are living in difficult times, with many homes breaking up.

In his Christmas message, Ntagali flanked by the Anglican Church director of communications, Rev Canon Dr. Alison Barfoot, Chaplain Rev Onesimus Asiimwe and other church officials, said besides domestic violence, land disputes have also broken up many homes in the country.

He decried the high rates of corruption that have plagued Uganda and asked the political leaders to do everything in their power to address the problem that has brought about many social ills in the society.

Ntagali also asked the Government to address the concerns of the citizens to ensure peace and harmony in the country, noting that many people have given up hope and faith in God, due to the existing social ills that have bombarded society.

“I appeal to all Ugandans this Christmas. Allow Jesus to change your thinking. Allow Him to be born in your life, family, office and business,” he said.

Ntagali said this year’s Christmas is unique because Uganda has just celebrated the Golden Jubilee independence anniversary.

“We need to improve on the things we did not do so well in the first 50 years of Independence,” Ntagali said.
