Heart patient needs sh16m

Night Ddungu and his wife Teddy Nabukeera of Kikungwe-Bukoto in Kabonera sub-county, Masaka district are stranded with their eight-year-old granddaughter, Teddy Nanyanzi, who needs $6,000 (about sh16m) for open heart surgery.
A medical report signed by Dr. Tom Mwambu, a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago Hospital, shows that Nanyanzi is suffering from congenital heart disease and requires surgery.
“She gets frequent cyanotic spells that have affected her normal growth and ability to attend school,” the report reads.
According to Mwambu, the surgery can be performed at the Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago at the cost of $6,000.
