Kiprop to get new rank in Police Force

The World Mountain Running gold medallist, Isaac Kiprop is on course for promotion in the Uganda Police Force.

The World Mountain Running gold  medallist, Isaac Kiprop is on course for promotion in the Uganda Police Force.

Kiprop, a member of Police Athletics Club, triumphed at the the world event in Italy on September 14.The team won three of the four individual gold medals at the same event.

Assistant Inspector of Police Andrew Sorowen said that the clubs runners at the event in Italy will be rewarded appropriately.

“We are proud of you and the Inspector General of Police has promised a big reward for your performance,” Sorowen stated.

“The Police Council will meet soon to discuss the new ranks you will have.”

Sorowen was meeting part of the team that competed at the event in Italy in Kampala.

Uganda Police had five of the eight athletes that represented the country in the annual international competition.

Kiprop won gold just like Stella Chesang (inset) in the junior women’s event.

Daniel Rotich settled for silver in the senior men’s event while Kibet Soyekwa got bronze in the same
competition.

Prison Athletics Club runner Philip Kipyeko grabbed gold in the junior men’s event. Uganda earned the team gold, Eritrea got silver while the bronze medal went to the hosts Italy.

Team Uganda made a 1-2-3-4 finish in the same competition in Poland last year.
