QDear Doctor,
I have developed some painless swollen lumps on the lips of my vagina. I applied candiderm cream in vain. Please help.

ADear Lucyana,
One of the common causes of lumps on the vagina are cysts. These are blocked glands that often swell and may become painful.

Sometimes, they look like pimples and you may be tempted to squeeze them to relieve the pain and pressure.

This is not a good idea because it opens up the area to infection. It is better to allow the cysts to open on their own and drain naturally. For large and painful cysts, it is better to see a doctor to drain them and prescribe medicine.

Also, these lumps could be caused by painless viral skin infection that causes raised, pearl-like swellings on the skin. See a doctor for examination and diagnosis.

Most of the time, the lumps resolve on their own and do not require medical attention. Skin tags are common anywhere on the body and can appear around the vaginal area. It is recommended that you get these tags assessed for skin cancer or some other form of infection for proper diagnosis.
