Lightning Monday morning struck ten pupils in Mityana district as they prepared for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) that kick off today countrywide.

Lightning Monday morning struck ten pupils in Mityana district as they prepared for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) that kick off today countrywide.

Five of the affected candidates will miss the examinations because they are critically injured. The severely injured pupils are admitted at Mubende Hospital.

The tragedy occurred at Nakaseta Islamic Primary School in the central district of Mityana during a morning drizzle.

A total of 565,663 candidates are expected to sit for their PLE.  Of these 463,332 pupils are UPE candidates while 102,331 are non UPE candidates.

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned that serious repercussions will be faced by primary schools that that will attempt to cheat in PLE.
