KAMPALA - The retired Archbishop of Kampala Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala has urged Christians to support each other including those stricken by poverty and heavily indebted.

He said some Christians were observing their values of supporting their colleagues when they lose relatives and friends but asked them to also help the poor and indebted.

“Some people in the course of their work and business get indebted and can also be supported which is good practice of brotherhood as Christians,” he said.

Wamala made these remarks while preaching during a Holy Mass on Sunday at Rubaga Cathedral on the day Rubaga Parish marked 135 years of existence.

Rubaga, he said, grown well and had given birth to the parishes of Bunamwaya, Mutudwe and Lunguuja, on top of several successful development projects.

Wamala thanked Christians for their support to God’s work and urged them to maintain the spirit of giving which he said is the secret to prosperity.

He also called on believers to exhibit good behavior which he said is a character of Christians. “Christians must not have bad behavior but should be exemplary in word and deed.”

During the same celebrations four couples were wedded and married couples, including Former DP president Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere marked their anniversaries.

The heavy downpour though did not do enough to lower the elated atmosphere, which saw special guests served lunch at the parish headquarters after the Mass.
