Vision group will on Tuesday this week (Independence day) run a special and historical edition of the English newspaper to commemorate Uganda's Golden Jubilee.

Vision group will on Tuesday this week run a special and historical edition of the English newspaper.


The 228-page edition is in commemoration of the Independence Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The issue will have 140 supplement pages and the rest will be news content.

Vision Group Editor-in-Chief Barbara Kaija said the issue is the biggest pagination ever in the history of the country.

“It reflects our development. It is a must get, read and keep. It is a good culmination of the jubilee celebrations. Buyers are assured of value for their money,” Kaija added.

The senior advertising manager, newspapers, Isaiah Mwalye, said the decision by the advertisers to run a chain of adverts in the newspaper was a sign that Ugandans are passionate about events that shape the history of their country. Buy a copy and become part of Uganda’s history.

“Everyone should get a copy of the newspaper because there is a lot to learn,” he said.

The price for the unique edition remains at the usual sh1,500.

Mwalye explained that all Vision Group regional newspapers – Bukedde, Orumuri, Etop, and Rupiny – will have an attractive jubilee package on Tuesday.

“We encourage Ugandans to attend to our other platforms because they will also have special jubilee packages,” he said.

Vision Group boasts of the multi-media platforms, including six radios, three TVs, four English newspapers, four local language papers, SMS, Digital, and four magazines.

Meanwhile, your favourite Sunday Vision newspaper will this weekend have free Uganda flags.

Sunday Vision Editor Charles Wendo said the flag in the paper is a sign that they believe in giving value to the readers. “Recently, we gave out stickers and today, we are giving out flags,” Wendo said.

Ugandans who will attend the celebrations at Kololo will leave smiling because of the string of benefits, like food and transport, which will be provided.
