Ugandans in arrears of rational voting

Come 2016, Uganda voters should flash ‘Red Cards’ to the MPs who have merely acted as rubber stamps and those who just oppose everything and propose nothing.

By doing so, the future generation will give due respect and credit to the 2016 Uganda voters for their rational decision.


Ugandans have the right to change the form of government by legal means defined in the 1995 Constitution itself through free and fair elections and referendums.


But to do this, the voters must prepare their minds to exercise the highest degree of wisdom and qualities of courage, honesty and common sense judgment. Sinister opposition schemes, religious sectarianism, tribal intolerance, dogmatic and selfish views must be replaced with national loyalty for they recall the wrinkle of political spoils on Uganda political map.

We must establish the supremacy of our Constitution, motto, flag, national anthem and all national symbols. Decisively, we must put petty disagreements aside before we can think of accomplishing any task for the future to judge us a rational generation of voters.

If we want to go in the record of rational voters, we must abandon the elected officials, who fear to undertake hard tasks and decisions in the interest of Uganda such officials are a risk and expensive for nothing. We should have no patience at all with any leader elected,  appointed by man or God who fears to give counsel to the new ‘tribe’  like of unruly youth for these unruly youth  represent the type of the next generation.

If 2016 voters wish to be counted, the best voters since Uganda attained its independence more than 50 years ago, must elect men and women who embody the stamina to   demonstrate civic honesty and good sense in our home administration, Capital City, towns, State, villages and national affairs.


Citizens and the civil society organisations must demand the highest order of integrity, ethics and accountability from our public officials and the men and women who enforce the Constitution. The Constitution is not self enforcing; neither only enforced by the elected or appointed officials but is better enforced by the people themselves.


In our entire endeavour of remaking Uganda under the emerging Africa of extraordinary opportunities, we must chose hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord to end the petty grievances.

Voters must exercise high sense of maturity by ignoring the   false politicians who promise voters childish things. We must stamp out the vicious circle of the dark past of political and social instability propelled by tyrant governments and of timid politicians. More still if we let the political, social, cultural, religious and economic sectors of Uganda to be turned into the prey of the spoils politician, we shall have begun to tread the path of doom.
 

Finally, voters should turn their backs against those who play the cheap political syndrome of power belongs to the people even when the people use it to destroy what has been built. Trash all those characters, because they hide their sectarian motives and timidity under the fake assumption of “liberty” and the “consent of the governed,” not   to play the part of brave men.

If we loose the fiber of brave men, men with iron in their blood who must win at hazard cost of their lives and at the risk of all they hold dear, then the bolder and stronger peoples will pass us by and Uganda will remain with those weak and timid politicians who turn politics into simple amusement or business venture to sell false promises of what people want to hear.
