Well before she died, Whitney had taken up a role in a movie Sparkle. The movie is directed by Salim Akil, who was a staff writer for award winning series Soul Food and Jumping the Broom.

The movie portrays a young musical prodigy, Sparkle, played by Jordin Sparks, who is trying to become famous.

Whitney plays Emma, who was once an RnB singer, but due to the challenges that come with fame, decided to turn to church for solace and continue her chores as a mother.

She has three daughters including Sparkle.

Given the hardships the family was going through, Sparkle and her two sisters are determined to form the greatest band in Motown.

Some of the scenes played by Whitney portray her real life. How she started singing in church, then rose to fame as a singer and eventually turned back to church.

As Sparkle tries to reach her dream, she falls in love with music producer, Stix. But their relationship is on and off.

The movie has caused a lot of stir because it is the last motion picture Whitney featured in. It was released last week.
