Four Ugandan students have won scholarships to study in the US under the Student Achievers Programme (USAP).
USAP is a competitive US government programme that guides talented students through the US university application process and helps them apply for scholarships.

The programme began in Zimbabwe in 1999 and has since spread to 19 countries on four continents.
USAP has operated in Uganda since 2006.

Already 16 USAP students from Uganda are currently studying in the United States. This year’s beneficiaries include John William Mukose, from Kings College Budo, who earned a tuition scholarship to study chemical engineering at the University of Maine; Isaac Wakiro, also from Kings College Budo, who earned a full scholarship to study biochemistry at the College of St. Scholastica in Minnesota.

Others are Shem Kikamaze, from Ndejje Senior Secondary School, who earned a full scholarship to the University of Denver to study electrical engineering; and Natasha Kirabo, from Mount St. Mary’s College Namagunga, who earned a tuition scholarship to study business at Ithaca College in New York.
