Couple fights, kills robber

Robbers who attacked a home in Mityana in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday fled after the couple fought back and killed one of them.

The incident occurred at Wilson Ssemuga's home, in Kajoji village, Maanyi Sub County.

According to Ssemuga, one of the three robbers entered his bedroom armed with a panga and ordered him and his wife to kneel down.

"I heard him calling his friend that they should come in with a gun. I jumped over him, grabbed his panga and cut him. His accomplices ran away," Ssemuga said.

Ssemuga said together with his wife they fought the robber for over five minutes, but the rest managed to escape.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 1:00am and searched the house. They recovered a polythene bag with a blood stained trouser, a hammer and a hack saw.

Police removed the body and took it to Mityana hospital mortuary for postmortem. Ssemuga recorded a statement at Mityana police station.
