The principal accountant in the prime minister’s office Geoffrey Kazinda has been remanded to Luzira Prison in connection with the disappearance of sh5b.

Kazinda appeared before the Anti- Corruption Court Magistrate Emmanuel Baguma on charges of abuse of office, causing financial loss, embezzlement, false accounting and forgery.

Kazinda was arrested last month after police raided his home in a Bukoto suburb. Detectives also searched his second home in Entebbe and reportedly seized pre-signed payment vouchers and other documents purportedly bearing the signature of the Permanent Secretary, Pius Bigirimana.

Kazinda was forced to hand over office to Kenneth Mugumya after failing to report for duty for over a month.
