Women should be corrupt-free if they are to achieve 50/50 representation in leadership positions, the Speaker of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Margaret Zziwa has advised.

“You should be corrupt-free and show compassion. The world must see a reason why women should become leaders,” Zziwa said.

Zziwa who survived impeachment was speaking during the opening of women in politics conference at Hotel Africana in Kampala on Tuesday.

She advised fellow women not to abuse the affirmative action that has been granted to them government but build on it to top leadership positions.

“Let’s not fight the affirmative action but use it for the good of women. A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush,” she said.

She also warned women not to pull down each other but support those who are in leadership position as they mentor others.
