While most teams here are still clueless about their opponents, the rugby Sevens have their task well cut out.
Most of the 17 disciplines will only have their competition schedules released next week after draws for the July 23 to August 3 Games.
It is a different story in the Sevens where draws were made in advance. It will be a two day affair as 16 nations battle it out at Glasgow’s Ibrox stadium.
Uganda, grouped with Sri Lanka together with giants England and Australia, will not be in unfamiliar waters. The Rugby Cranes were in a similar group at the last Games in New Delhi.
That time they were whipped 55-0 and 33-0 respectively by England and Australia before a consolation 35-15 win over Sri Lanka.
Team officials Yayiro Kasasa and Michael Wandera say they have since learnt their lesson.
“We shall this time be fielding a much younger team that is also very talented. The boys also know the reward that comes with beating the giants. So don’t be surprised if we make it out of the group,” warned Kasasa.
Kasasa and company have in a rare show of teamwork been closely knit. They are up as early as 6am for road work. They also eat as a unit.

Group A- N. Zealand, Canada, Scotland, Barbados.
Group B- S. Africa, Kenya, Cook Islands, Trinidad and Tobago.
Group C- Samoa, Wales, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia.
Group D- England, Australia, Sri Lanka and Uganda.
