ELEC-U launches strategic plan for lango, Teso and Rwenzori sub regions

The Education Local Expertise Center (ELEC-U) has launched its strategic education plan for the Lango, Teso and Rwenzori sub regions.

The Education Local Expertise Center (ELEC-U) has launched its strategic education plan for the Lango, Teso and Rwenzori sub regions.

The ELEC-U is to offer capacity building, training to the partner’s especially in financial management; evaluation and an overall support in monitoring of programs and projects.

The ELEC-U formed in 2009 is a brainchild of the Edukans foundation which is a Netherlands based development Organization launched the dissemination of the strategic plan last week at Land mark Hotel in Muyenga to coordinate its activities in Uganda.

The board Chairman Vasco Kura said that the new organization is now fully operational with governance, Management and support structures fully constituted and the strategic plan is a way of having a clear direction and strategies.

 “Edukans believes that every child has the right to quality and sustainable education and it implements these activities in developing countries,” Kura said.

Kura added that the same projects run in Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi Peru and India. He added that ELEC-U activities are currently concentrated in Teso and Lango sub regions and districts of Kasese, Kabarole, Mbarara and Bushenyi.

The plan will run for the three initial years from 2012-2014 in a rolling manner. The strategic plan is, therefore premised on ELEC-U’s Vision, “A society empowered through equal access to quality and sustainable basic education,” to coordinate and build capacity of partners to deliver quality basic education children in Uganda, Kura said.

Speaking at the same function, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Seraphine Awacango said that the organization envisages unceasing support of the set strategies by Government of Uganda and all like-minded organizations, both local and international agencies, a we all forge towards achieving MDGs on Education for all(EFA) by 2015.
