Ddungu banned, P'Minga suspended from UOC

THE embattled UOC president Roger Hanns Ddungu has been banned from the Uganda Olympic Committee and his vice president William Blick assumed the acting presidency role with immediate effect.

Ddungu was found guilty of gross abuse of  UOC and IOC charter when took the UOC matters to court, assigning non UOC members including a Kyambogo University student Matia  Mwase on the team representing  the Uganda team to Olympics.

The assembly invoked article 28:4 and 28:5 of the UOC constitution that bars any member and official that takes any matter of UOC in the courts of law other than exploring the mechanism set up by UOC constitution and IOC charter.

“With the fore going provisions of these articles …….an official or member of UOC shall not bring disputes of UOC to the courts of law and any member that breach those articles shall be delt for as per these articles and I move a motion to ban the suspended president from UOC activities,” Dunstan Nsubuga the  Hockey delegate proposed.

He was seconded by football delegate Patrick Ogwel and handball delegate Hannington Musoke and Athletics delegates Apollo Musherure seconded the motion.

Thirteen (13) federations out of the nineteen (19) voted in favour of the motion to ban Ddungu.

They included Rugby, Swimming, Rowing, handball, table tennis, Tennis, Archery, basketball, hockey, Athletics, Volleyball, badminton and football.

Taekwondo that Ddungu represents didn’t vote because they were not represented.

Assistant secretary Nicholas Oneg P’Minga was suspended from the executive and subjected to legal and ethics commission for procures of disciplinary action.
