Can URA become KCC’s sacrificial lamb in the Lugogo side’s official opening of its new home ground today?

Coach Morley Byekwaso answered this question in the affirmative setting stage for a thriller that could have a bearing in the tax men’s quest for a fifth Bell Uganda Super League title.

“Yes, they are headed for the slaughterhouse. We simply can’t lose our first match in our new home,” vowed Byekwaso.

KCC will be playing their first Super League match at their Lugogo stadium after the club’s fulfillment of all USL competition venue requirements.

A win for KCC will be sweet revenge for the Lugogo side which was defeated 2-1 in the first round in Lugazi.

Statistics however paint a better picture of the tax men. They are second in the 16 team race where KCC are sixth. But Byekwaso believes his recent away win over stubborn Masaka was proof of his fast improving fortunes.

But in URA, KCC face a highly motivated side. Fresh from an emphatic qualification for the Bell Uganda Cup final, they are also keenly eyeing a double.

URA, hit by injury of over half of its starting line-up, showed strength in depth last week by defeating Masaka home and away in the knock-out competition.

The Water- Bunamwaya encounter also has all the markings of a thriller. The two sides drew 1-1 in their first encounter at Bunamwaya’s Buikwe home ground. The Victors-Bidco Jinja derby should also produce thrills just like Villa’s trip to Bombo.
