Widows graduate from life skills development

Over 20 widows and less privileged women in Tororo municipality have graduated in life skills development to start up their own business.

Over 20 widows and less privileged women in Tororo municipality have graduated in life skills development to start up their own business.

The grandaunts that were trained in tailoring at Smile Africa ministries were also handed over new tailoring machines, certificates and gift courtesy of American nongovernmental organization Hope 4 women an affiliate of Hope 4 kids.

Tororo municipality MP Sanjay Tanna who presided over the function warned the beneficiaries against sell of the items and use them to improve on their household income and be able to pay school fees for their children.

Sanjay thanked smile Africa ministries under the leadership of pastor Ruth Kahawa for the initiative that he said has equally helped to remove all street children who were involved in all kind of criminality in Tororo town for rehabilitation in their center.

He said he was extremely gratified by the birth of hope 4 women from hope 4 kids while promising the donors of clear transparency and accountability of the items offered to the women.

The president Hope 4 kids Tom Eggum said the organization has helped in building of schools, provision of safe water sources, supported the needy and paid school fees to hundreds of children through partnership in the past 10 The resident district commissioner Damulira Kyeyune appealed to women to go back to schools so that they can be better placed in the current world of competition.

He said the government has greatly registered the contribution made by the organization in trying to address the serious problem economic hardship by training the less privileged in life skills development.

The mayor Geoffrey Emokol Opua appealed to the grandaunts to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired to break off the dependency syndrome which is common amongst women and improve on their family wellbeing.
