ARUA - Former world steeplechase champion, Dorcus Inzukuru's marriage has hit a snag, following a domestic row.

The field track sensation has since sought police redress accusing her husband of infidelity while Bosco Acidri reported that his wife hired goons to vandalize their family house.

According to Josephine Angucia, the North-western region police spokesperson, Acidri on Saturday, filed a case with Arua central police after a group of 20 youth stormed his residence at Komite village, Pokea parish in Pajulu sub-county and removed about 20 iron sheets from the roof," Angucia said.

Alex Afemia, the acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Criminal Investigation Department said that when detectives arrived at the scene, Inzikuru explained that she remove the iron sheets ahead of renovation.

The former Uganda Gazelle, as she is sometimes called, especially during her days of racing glory, said she had also acquired more land for another house.

But her husband Acidri, in a statement to police refuted Inzukuru's claims, saying her motive was to vandalize the property since she did it without his consent.

Angucia told journalists on Monday that after lengthy deliberations with the various parties, the police, led by the detective boss, dispersed the crowd and deployed two officers at the scene, while the iron sheets were kept and locked inside the roofless house.

Arua central police Child and Family Protection Unit on Sunday convened a counseling session for the estranged couple without much success. The meeting was also attended by the acting DPC and Angucia.

In her statement to the police, Dorcus said she was on Saturday incensed on encountering a strange woman who refused to identify herself in her house.

According to Angucia, it later emerged during the meeting that several glaring issues had for long dogged the couple's marriage.

"We have since established that there is lack of communication and mistrust between the couple. There has also been a lot of unwarranted interference by family members into the private affair of the couple," Angucia explained.

After the counseling session, the police and the beleaguered couple, among others, agreed that no more iron sheets be removed from the house.

Both parties were also advised to consider resolving their marriage differences customarily by involving clan members from either side.

In case of failure to customary approach, the couple was advised to seek civil redress in court.

Acidri, the embattled husband was advised to get another house and avoid bringing her to the deputed house.
