THE famous world music artiste and one of the best in Africa, ISMAEL LO is coming to perform in Uganda on January 27, 2012 in a charity-staged concert.
Ismael Lo is a Senegalese musician, born in Dogondoutchi, Niger on 30 August 1956, to a Senegalese father and a Nigerien mother. Shortly after Lo's birth the family returned to Senegal where they settled in the town of Rufisque, near the capital Dakar.
His latest album Sénégal was recorded in Dakar, Paris and London. Lo says of it, "Giving this album the title Sénégal was my way of paying tribute to my own country, in recognition of all its gifts to me".
The Senegalese guitarist, harmonica player and singer, Ismael Lo is a global music star. With his smooth multi-textured voice and low-key folky style, he and his band play strong, complex, percussion-laden mbalax songs that discuss important topics in Africa ranging from racism and respect to immigration.
In a unique way this concert brings together Uganda’s greatest World Music mind- Joel Sebunjo & one of West Africa’s most influential figures, Senegalese music Legend Ismael LO in beautifully stripped down displays of acoustic mastery.
This will be for a special cause, part of the proceeds from this concert will go to the charity – Katalemwa Cheshire Home for the disabled children.
This is a gift of hope through music. The diplomats’ tour 2012 is on at the Kampala Serena Hotel on January 27. Tickets go for sh100,000 (General), while Corporate / Diplomat tables cost sh2.5 million. Tickets will be sold at the following points; Uchumi Supermarket(Garden City), Nakumatt Oasis Mall, Good African coffee (Lugogo).
