Why should the most renowned local gospel artistes, Wilson Bugembe and Judith Babirye, stage a show at a secular entertainment spot?

Bugembe answered this question at their concert at Sunset Pub Nateete, on New Year’s Day. “Some of you are not born-again because I see you holding bottles of beer. But this is not a problem because when you come to events like this, you are closer to salvation.”

But the composition of the audience not withstanding, the revellers hankered for the duo’s performance.

Babirye opened the show with her new hit Maria, which advises children to respect their parents. She also sang Mukama Nze Gwe Wali Onoonya, Ssimanyi lwaki, Essaala Teremererwa and Beera Nange, which sent the audience into ecstasy.

Bugembe started it off with his groovy afro-beat chorus, Yesu Waali, which provoked fans into dancing. He then sang Erinnya Lye Yesu and Obulamu Bwebusinga. He told fans everything in the world was futile without God.
